What type of firms are using Limina IMS?

Limina is designed for most types of buy-side firms including:

  • Asset managers (mutual funds, alternative investment funds, discretionary managers,  OCIOs)
  • Asset owners (pension funds, family offices, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments & foundations)
  • Hedge funds (e.g. L/S equity)

What asset classes does Limina support?

Limina is natively a multi-asset platform and supports most asset classes: equities, fixed income, fund-of-funds, FX, listed derivatives, OTC derivatives (e.g. FX options, swaptions). In addition, we are continuously extending & deepening our asset class support and currently investing in extended support for alternative asset classes and more types of OTC derivatives.

Who in the team is the solution for?

Limina IMS is used by everyone involved in the investment workflows, with primary user roles being:

  • Portfolio managers/traders
  • Investment operations
  • Risk/compliance

In addition, the comprehensive portfolio data coupled with dashboard/reporting capabilities are typically useful for the wider firm including CIO, sales etc.

Is Limina IMS multiple products? Can I buy modules standalone?

Limina IMS is a single product and has been designed holistically to ensure smooth end to end workflows. The most common setup is for clients to leverage the vast majority of modules.

The platform is flexible and can fit into multiple target system landscapes as it is possible to use only parts of the system, e.g. only as an OMS/PMS or as a middle office platform.

In addition, our  Import/Export Manager (ETL tool) and reconciliation functionality are available standalone - please contact us for a discussion.

Are you connected to my brokers, custodians etc.?

Without even knowing who they are, we can say with 99% certainty: yes.

  • Our Import/Export manager application (ETL tool) ensures it is easy (and free of charge) to integrate with any service provider (custodians, prime brokers, fund administrators, index data providers etc.).
  • On the trading side, we are connected to virtually all brokers globally via FIX.
  • Market data vendors are integrated natively out-of-the-box.
Does Limina have an API? Yes, we have modern HTTP/REST (request/response) and websocket (streaming) APIs. Please contact us for more info.
How secure is the solution?

Very secure.

Access to the solution is done via secure connection in the browser, with login secured by two-factor authentication or SSO. From a hosting perspective, the solution is hosted on AWS and adheres to cloud security best practices. See our security page for more info.

What regions are Limina's clients active in? Our client base is spread across multiple continents and trade globally - both established markets (incl. North America, Europe, APAC) and emerging markets (incl. Asia, Africa, South America).

How long does it take to implement Limina IMS?

Implementation can range from weeks up to a year, depending on the scope of the project:

  • Weeks = small firm with 1-2 portfolios and simple integrations
  • 6-12 months = large firm (dozens or hundreds of portfolios) incl. committed product enhancements and many integrations

What happens if we need a new feature in 2 years?

Limina has a proven track-record of being a true partner to our clients - we continuously listen and evolve our solution based client feedback.

Any feedback that fits the client base is typically added to our roadmap and prioritised holistically. We always aim to reserve some unused capacity for our product development team so that we have capacity to address high priority client requests quickly - and in practice, we can often deliver such features within days/weeks.

Should you need a new feature you can get direct access to our product team for further discussions.

Who handles data setup and monitoring of automation jobs?

As a client you own your data and all related setup, meaning Limina as a vendor is never a bottleneck in order for you to operate the platform. Should you need assistance, we have a data management-as-a-service offering where our team takes responsibility for this on a daily basis.

For monitoring of automation jobs, Limina is responsible for all managed integrations (e.g. trading connections, market data feeds etc.). Status for automation jobs is easily visible in dashboard widgets, and exceptions can be flagged via notifications (in-app or email).

How often are upgrades available and what work is required by us as a client?

Managed upgrades are included in the solution, meaning you get frequent access to new functionality. This is based on feedback from our entire client base and strategic initiatives.

All upgrades go through a suite of testing steps, including security testing and regressions test, before shipped to clients.

We currently release new versions every 3 weeks. We can offer custom release cycles if your change management policies require lower frequency or a freeze period.

Can we customise the software?

The solution is designed to be highly flexible and configurable, which often removes the need for software-level customisation.

In the rare event that you want to customise further, we will either:

  1. Implement your feedback as a configurable feature in the core solution and make it available to all clients, or
  2. Refer you to build this on your own as an external solution leveraging our APIs
As a cloud-native provider, we do not offer "custom-code solutions".
Can we use Limina if we outsource trading or middle/back office?

Yes.

Limina is well suited to be used in an outsourced operating model and this is common among our clients.

We are integrated with a comprehensive list of service providers and are happy to make introductions.

We have external managers and want central governance & operations, is Limina for us?

Yes.

Limina is very well suited to such a setup and several of our clients are leverage the platform in this way. For example:

  • It's easy to give access to external managers with minimal learning curve and no installation needed (web access).
  • Comprehensive and granular permission groups allow you to control exactly what data is visible and which actions are allowed for each user.
How does the pricing model work; how much does Limina IMS cost?

Limina IMS is charged as a SaaS license using a transparent pricing model (no hidden costs). We publish our pricing model on the website, something no other provider does.
